In Place

Jane Franklin Dance returns to in-person performances at Arlington’s Theatre on the Run with exciting new works by award-winning choreographers.  This mixed-bill promises an exciting evening of dance by some of the DMV’s finest movement artists.

  • A new work by Company | E artist Horizon Miguel, *8H Aquarius Moon” is an exploration of a personal, astrological placement and its relation to affection, intimacy and validation.
  • In Jane Franklin’s “Barrier” scientists, naturalists and hobbyists comment on flight, migration and climate. People — like animals — move to react to a push or pull in their natural habitats. As we confront global issues, JFD invites audiences to experience the real, personal journeys of the people and ecosystems in our midst.
  • Lauren DeVera unveils “And She Did” for Forty+, about overcoming obstacles and in celebration of unapologetic self-love.  The dance taps into the feelings of youth with a sustained hopefulness about the present moment; a resonant theme for many and for the cast of performers past the age of 40.
  • “Rain or Shine”Jane Franklin’s new work is inspired by NVFAA’s recent exhibit “Art Optimism: Focus on Change and Sustainability.  The shared leitmotif is one of optimism for improving our footprint on the planet. Artworks by Steve Ferretti Capture the Tides, Capture the Sun, Capture the Wind, Rosa Ines Vera Lotus Fields III, Sally Kaufman Rebirth, Marty Ittner Tangled Up in Blue and Suzanne Yurdin Shadows Run Deep motivate a response in movement.
  • Award-winning choreographer Robert J. Priore’s new work “Esta Vida” explores themes of family.  Surprising movement and group partnership echo music by Silvia Perez Cruz and Silvania Estrada.
