Charlotte Dance Festival and Radford University
Jane Franklin Dance performed at Charlotte Dance Festival in North Carolina on Sept 9 & 10. The festival brought together artists from the region, and the trip was a plus for company members. Our sincere thanks to Caroline Calouche, her staff and volunteers for making our stay so pleasant. Charlotte is a beautiful city! We loved our roof top pool at the Holiday Inn, enthusiastic audiences, and the chance to dance in the rain.
On September 11 we presented a concert for Radford University. The Studio Theater was overflowing with an enthusiastic audience, at least twice more than expected. A post performance discussion brought in original poetry by students, with a response by the company offering insight into text driven movement. Jane's masterclass gave students a glimpse of the process of developing movement with a partner. We wish to thank danah bella, Radford University's Dept of Dance, Harmony In Motion, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Paul Mellon Arts in Education Program and the Virginia Commission for the Arts for making this wonderful day possible.
