Concert for Community

Thursday, April 19 at 11:00 am

Thursday morning's Concert for Community is an opportune time to enjoy dance performance during the day.  Senior Adult groups, those who are too busy during the weekend, and anyone who can get away for a mid-morning performance will find this a great break to the workday week. Participants from Jane Franklin's Joy of Movement workshops at Arlington Senior Adult Centers will join the company dancers onstage for one segment, and audience members are invited to step up as well.   The Thursday morning concert wraps some of Saturday's repertory around an engaging experience of community participation.

Saturday April 21 at 3 pm & 8 pm

For our Saturday concerts we will be performing works that blend media with dance, and works that draw attention to the connection between performer and audience.

In Hiding uses fabric panels, shadow, and the human form. Layered imagery by artist Becky Heavner alternately reveals and conceals the performers, becoming both a barrier and a passageway to presence. Music is by composer Gina Biver.

Ring with music by Vietnam's Thang Long Water Puppet Troupe is a visually arresting piece incorporating a sphere, stands and hoops. Fashioned from a simple natural material, bamboo, the sculpted pieces by artist Brece Honeycutt reflect and unify the onstage interaction.

Found is a collaboration with several area choreographers and musicians. The fleeting passage of birds and the rhythms of underlying language highlight the dynamics in the search for connection.
